How to Make Money With Google AdSense
As of today, Google AdSense is the number one pay-per-click network on the planet. Thanks to a bank of more than 2 million advertisers world wide (that come mostly from AdWords, but also from other networks that partner with Google), it enjoys huge exposure, by far more than any other PPC network. The idea behind the AdSense program is to connect advertisers with publishers, and vise versa. With AdWords, advertisers get to create and manage ads and campaigns, that can be displayed world wide or in specific regions and territories. Once those ads are live and ready to be displayed, it is up to the Google AdSense program to decide and prioritize the ads that each publisher is about to display, with no human intervention at all.
AdSense is easy
AdSense requires no special skills or technical prerequisites. First you are required to create an AdSense account and get accepted to the program. One of the most important steps on your way to make money with Google AdSense, is to read and understand the AdSense program policies as these are the building blocks of the program. Violating any of them can result iמ a penalty (not to mention dismissing you from the program).
AdSense for content
Once you have signed to the AdSense program, you are ready to create ads and embed them in your website. There are three types of ads you can create:
- Text ads – will show text ads only.
- Image ads – will show image (also flash animations) ads only.
- Text and image ads – AdSense program will choose between the two.
After the ad type, you are ready to move on to the fun part – the AdSense wizard page. The wizard lets you pick from different ad formats and sizes (visit the AdSense ad formats page for more info). It also allows full customization of font, border and background colors. This way you can create ads that will be seamlessly integrated to you blog or website. It is important that you develop proficiency with operating the wizard. Different ads in different sizing and coloring will affect your CTR and even the CPC of your ads. Try not to go on the default ad that is offered by the system, try to give your ads the same look and feel of your website. Remember that you can always come back to the AdSense setup page and there you have the option to manage your ads, including changing colors and fonts.
AdSense for search
Many websites and blogs display this little search box, so that users can search for whatever they like to. But what many people don’t know, is that they can configure this search box to function as another source of revenue. Using Google AdSense for search program, you basically connect the search box to Google, which we all know what they do best – searching, and then the most amazing thing happen, whenever someone is using that search box, Google will display the regular search results as we all know so well, and next to it, they will show ads (again, as we all know well). Those ads will pay you money every time they are clicked.
AdSense for domains
Have a domain that you’re not using ? Then parking your domain with Google is exactly what you need to start making money from this unused domain. Sometimes even dead domains that hold no website can generate traffic, so why not park it with Google AdSense for domains. To read more about this program, visit here.
AdSense heat map
The way your website is structured, can and will affect your click through rates, and eventually your revenue. One of the most important things you are advised to know, even before you create your website, is that positioning matters. Whether you place your ads at the top of the page or at the bottom, on the left or on the right, will have an impact on your CTR. For that reason, Google released a so called AdSense heat map to help publishers with deciding where to place ads, to improve performance.
AdSense premium account
This is a unique and special program, and it is not available for most publishers, but rather to partners with 20 million page views or more, per month. It allows higher levels of ads customization, and the CPC ratio is a little bit higher than the normal. Here’s an example of a premium ad taken from Answers.com:
